Upshur County Holds Celebrate Recycling Day

Since its Earth Day people in North Central West Virginia were find ways to be environmentally friendly.

The Upshur County Solid Waste Authority, the City of Buckhannon, and Wendy's hosted a free paper shredding event on Saturday.l

It allowed anyone to dispose of documents, bank statements, or anything else confidential safely.

"We've had people bring in small bags, some people have brought in some boxes probably up to 200 to 300 pounds worth. So we're probably in the neighborhood of about three ton paper that have been shredded to this point this morning," said Burl Smith, director of Upshur County Solid Waste Authority.

This free shredding event was part of celebrating recycling day at the Crossroads Recycling Center.

The solid waste authority has been holding this recycling day event since 2002.
