Some Nutter Fort Intermediate students celebrate Earth Day by planting a tree.

Mrs. Bolton's fourth grade class recently won a school wide competition by recycling the most paper.

Her students planted a Red Maple tree in front of the school Monday afternoon.

Art Teacher Natalie Quillen said more than 500 students participated in the recycling competition.

"I'm hoping the kids will definitely learn to recycle and recycle at home especially. They're doing this at school they're learning a lot about paper recycling but we also talk about other things they can recycle," Quillen said.

The primary students celebrated Earth Day by planting seeds in a flower bed and by making recycling posters.
