On Monday afternoon Robert C. Byrd swimmer Chelsea Faris signed her national letter of intent to swim for Davis and Elkins College.
In this year's state finals, Faris swam the 100 Butterfly, 500 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle Relay and the 400 Freestyle Relay, finishing seventh in three of the four events.
Faris said once she met the team and coaches, she immediately fell in love with the program.
She added that she was also drawn in by the money the college is putting into the entire swimming program.
"They just re-did the pool, and they put a lot of money into that, and that really caught my eye. Knowing that they put a lot of money into their swimming program really helped a lot because a lot of schools only put money into bigger sports, so I'm glad to see them put it into the swimming program," said Faris.
