Columbia Pipeline Group, Contractor Services donate generator to Roane General

Columbia Pipeline Group and Contractor Services Inc. of West Virginia recently donated a reconditioned, natural gas power generator to Roane General Hospital.

Roane General Hospital Chief Executive Officer Doug Bentz said the companies' generosity "will make a true difference for our patients and continue to allow our hospital to deliver the high-quality health care our patients deserve, should we experience an interruption of our primary power source."

CSi President J. Scott Freshwater said last summer's derecho put a hardship on Roane County, and brought forward the need to ensure a reliable source of power for the local health care facility.

The 350-kilowatt standby generator will provide backup power for critical systems such as communications, medical equipment, ventilation and other health care tools.

Columbia Pipeline Group partnered with CSi to restore the standby unit, and CSi will assist the hospital with its installation.

"We have a long tradition of being a committed good neighbor in the communities where we live and work," Columbia Pipeline Group President, operations and product delivery, Shawn Patterson said in a news release. "Donations like these to good community providers in West Virginia hopefully will make a real difference in the things that matter most, like high-quality health care."
