The Harrison County Community Corrections Advisory Board is now one member larger.

The board swore in Harrison County Chief Public Defender Joel Mumford Thursday. Mumford has been the county's public defender since April 1, and was a lawyer in Florida the previous five years. Even though Mumford is originally from Salem, he said it will take some time to get adjusted as a member of the board.

"When I grew up here, I knew what parts of town had problems, and why they had problems," Mumford said. "Also, it's a small town with different groups of people involved with different things. But, in reality, I will admit this: the town has definitely changed in the time I've been away."

The Advisory Board will meet once again at the end of June.
