BUCKHANNON -

The Lewis-Upshur Local Emergency Planning Committee is looking to bring another county on board.

Emergency management officials said Barbour County wants to combine their resources with Lewis and Upshur Counties.

It said Barbour County hasn't been meeting on a regular basis, but wants to still continue.

In order for it to merge with the two other counties it needs approval from those county commissions.

"I spoke with our county commission and shared some of the issues and positives and negatives as whether this can take place. They feel this is a positive step forward and we should continue to pursue it," said Jim Ferry, of the Upshur County OEM.

The committee will look at cost factors and changes needed before a final decision is made.
