The Division of Natural Resources held its quarterly meeting on Saturday to discuss several upcoming changes.

The main point that was discussed was the changes in regulations for bear hunting.

The early hunting season for autumn may begin in October rather than September.

"October season you're going to interfere with the bow hunters," said Jeffrey S. Bowers, a Department of Natural Resources Commissioner. "Also, initially we looked at a September season to deal with a lot of your damage from bears so we're trying to get some of the problem there. I think there will be serious consideration for staying in September where we can get the problem bears."

Another option is to combine bear season with deer season to give the deer hunters a chance to get a bear.
