The Upshur County Commission is supporting a project to bring in senior housing.

The proposed site would be located across from Kroger in Tennerton.

The Pringle House Project would feature up to 48 one or two bedroom units.

Project managers are submitting an application to the West Virginia Housing Development Fund for financing.

"Buckhannon is a strong market; the senior population is the fastest growing population in the country. The need for quality senior housing is present in Buckhannon; you know we're looking at an estimated six million dollar investment in the community for seniors so we're pretty excited about it," Thomas Simons, senior vice president of the Woda Group.

If the application is approved, groundbreaking would be next year and units would be available in 2015.
