The Poca Valley Bankshares board of directors has selected Linda Ashley as chief executive officer for Poca Valley Bankshares and Poca Valley Bank.

Ashley joined the PVB board of directors in 2003. She has been a member of PVB's senior management team and managed Hays & Co., PVB's accounting affiliate, since it was acquired in 2004.

In 2012, Ashley was named chairman and president of Poca Valley Bankshares and has served as interim CEO since August 2012.

A 1985 Marshall University graduate with a degree in accounting, Ashley has a long family history with PVB.

Her great-grandfather, Isaac Whited, served as bank president, leading PVB through the Great Depression. Her father, Dean Jones, served as the bank's general manager from the late 1960s into the 1980s.

Ashley also has 26 years' experience in the oil and gas industry, beginning her career in that industry in 1987 with Energy Corporation of America, headquartered in Charleston.

She worked in its treasury department, where she managed credit facilities and domestic and international cash management services. She served on acquisition teams and became a member of its management team in 1991.
