Man Flown To Hospital After Getting Struck by Tree

A man was flown to an area hospital Thursday after getting struck by a tree while clearing trees on Route 15 on Hodam Mountain in Webster County.

Mitchell Sanson, 23, was working for a Division of Highways subcontractor clearing trees near a roadway that were left after Superstorm Sandy. A coworker cut a tree and looked down to make sure Sanson saw the tree falling down the mountainside, but the tree struck Sanson in the head.

Sanson sustained head trauma and was flown by a medical helicopter to CAMC General in Charleston, according to W.Va. State Police in Webster County. Sanson is listed in stable condition.
