Pleasant Valley Elementary Students Taking Part in 'Destination Imagination' Competition

Posted: Updated:

A group of Pleasant Valley Elementary School students are Knoxville, Tennessee- bound for an academic competition.

But in order to do so, they need to raise more then $8,000.

So they're taking part in the "Destination Imagination" competition, a nationwide event that requires students to think on their toes.

The students will be asked to perform difference tasks with very little preparation.

They will represent the entire state of West Virginia at the middle school level.

"It's a creative thinking process for kids that teaches them to think outside of the box, come up with creative problem solving ideas. There are seven new challenges given every year," said Diane Watson, Destination Imagination coach.

"They won't tell us which one we are going to do until after we start," said Stephanie Vincent, Pleasant Valley student.

"Sometimes you have to build something and sometimes you have to put on a play," said Kaylee Watson, Pleasant Valley student.

The Destination Imagination team will hold a car wash fundraiser at Fazolis in Kingmont May 18 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
