BRIDGEPORT -

Moms and their little girls spent Sunday afternoon at the Benedum Civic Center in Bridgeport for a day of mother-daughter bonding.

The GFWC Bridgeport Jrs. hosted a Kentucky Derby Tea Party.

More than 50 moms and their daughters participated in a day filled with hat-making and cookie decorating.

They also gave their dolls a little attention with nail painting and hair style stations.

Moms said the event is a great way to strengthen mother and daughter bonds.

"We just enjoy mommy and daughter time. I have a son, and I just like doing things separately with each of them," said Niki Woofter.

Woofter also said it's a great way for moms to meet other moms and build a strong support system in the community.
