WESTON -

The third annual children's art show was held at the Pink Moon Coffeehouse in Weston on Sunday.

Children from grades kindergarten through a senior in high school could enter the art show and display their work.

People got to vote on their favorite piece, and the winner got a gift certificate to the coffeehouse.

Organizers said the art show is a way for children to display their skills publicly.

"I think anything we can do that celebrates art in the county and celebrates our children is a beneficial thing. They can come out and feel some pride to see something that they've done and people looking and appreciating and give them credit for that," said Jill Stewart, owner of Pink Moon and the president of the Arts Council of Weston.

Makayla Beam won the people's choice award last year, and entered the art show again this year.

"I love the Pink Moon so it's a lot of fun to come in here and show my art to everyone," said Beam, Lewis County High School freshman.

Stewart said the Pink Moon plans to host the children's art show again next year.
