Fairmont General Hospital Participates in National Nurses Week

Posted: Updated:

Nursing is a profession that involves special people who dedicate countless hours of their time to helping others.

They can be found in schools, emergency rooms, homeless shelters, and at Fairmont General Hospital.

Nurses have a variety of roles, some of which vary from educating the public to saving lives.

National Nurses Week highlights everything these people do for the profession and their communities.

"I don't think we can recognize any of our employees enough. Certainly, with the nursing staff there shouldn't be a nursing week. There should be a nursing year," said Robert Marquardt, president of Fairmont General Hospital.

"We have nurses that have been here as short as one month to as many as 46 years. That's why it's so important to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of them for what they bring to their profession and to the hospital," said Peggy Coster, of Fairmont State University.

Fairmont General Hospital will hold several activities and luncheons to thank its nurses throughout the week.
