West Virginia State Police have released the name of the man struck and killed by a semi truck on Interstate 79 at the 155 mile marker Tuesday afternoon.

State Police said Michael Mario Schreiner was changing a tire on a Nissan Frontier pick-up truck when he was struck by a semi truck driven by Gregory Riffle of Ohio. Charles Schreiner, the driver of the Nissan, sustained minor injuries.

A fatal pedestrian accident closed Interstate 79 at Exit 155 near Star City Tuesday afternoon.

West Virginia State Police said a man was changing a tire on his pick-up truck on the shoulder when he was struck by a tractor trailer.

Troopers said another man, who was assisting the victim, was also struck. He was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

The accident happened just before 1:30 p.m., according to MECCA 911.

Both lanes were closed following the accident but have since reopened, according to the Monongalia County HSEMA.

Officials haven't released the name of the deceased.

State police are investigating.
