Randolph County BOE Approves Project to Modernize School Traffic Lights at Local Schools

Posted: Updated:

The Randolph County Board of Education has approved a project to modernize school traffic lights at four schools.

Tygarts Valley High School, and George Ward, Jennings Randolph, and Beverly Elementary Schools have lights that run on electricity, but have no battery backup.

A state program will allow the county to buy the lights with reimbursement from the Division of Highways.

"These lights will be solar charged. They're on automatic timers and we can change the timing for the school, and we can set the light to flash when it's needed. They're going to be all modernized equipment," said Randy Long, of the Randolph County Schools.

The county will install the new lights in the first or second week of August.
