Healthnet flew a child to Ruby Memorial Hospital after an auto-pedestrian collision Tuesday in Bridgeport.

Bridgeport police said a 10-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle driven by his mother in the parking lot of Go Mart on West Main Street, just before 7 p.m.

Police said the boy walked around the driver's side front area of the vehicle and sat down with his back against the front bumper. The boy went underneath the car as it traveled 20 feet forward. The boy's mother stopped the car, exited the vehicle and pulled the boy from underneath the bumper.

Bridgeport EMS transported the boy to Fairmont Municipal Airport, where Healthnet was waiting, according to 911 officials.

Police said Wednesday that the boy is in stable condition at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. It's unclear if the mother will be cited.

Police reconstructed the accident and are awaiting the results. The incident is under investigation.

Bridgeport police and firefighters also responded to the scene.
