FAIRMONT -

Two Marion County men were arrested Wednesday afternoon after leading police on a chase through Fairmont.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department said Derick Linear, 32, and Charles Hager, 25, were suspects in a crime consisting of larceny.

Deputies confronted the men on Virginia Avenue, at which time Hager drove off to Country Club Road where he and Linear jumped out and began to run.

Deputies chased the men through the woods all of the way to West Fork River, where Linear jumped in.

Hager continued to run down the shoreline.

Deputies said they caught up with the men near Industrial Road near the Watson Bridge, where they arrested them.

Linear was arrested on charges of fleeing on foot. He was arraigned and released on bail.

Hager is being charged with fleeing in a vehicle, fleeing on foot, capius, and driving with a revoked license. He was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation. He has not yet been arraigned.

Fairmont Police, West Virginia State Police, and Marion County deputies helped with the chase.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department is investigating the larceny.
