Skyview Elementary Students Collect More Than 30,000 Soda Tabs

A kindergarten class from Skyview Elementary collected more than 30,000, or 24-pounds, of soda tabs in one month for the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Morgantown.

Wednesday, the charity held a pizza party to thank the class, which won its "pop tab" contest.

The non-profit said each year it raises more than $40,000 from donated tabs.

"When I heard the number, I was dumb struck as well, because $40,000 a year from people taking the time, to take the tab off, and put it in their pocket I great, it's really unbelievable when you think about it," said Samantha Esposito, of the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The kids also receive tickets to see a race at High Point Raceway in Point Marion, Pennsylvania.
