Another sports project may soon be in the works in Harrison County: an indoor batting facility.

On Wednesday, Clarksburg City Council discussed the possibility of funding part of the project.

The Harrison County Pony League, who pitched the idea to council last month, wants to build the facility at Clarksburg City Park in Nutter Fort.

Mayor Patsy Trecost said council thinks the project would be perfect in one of the city's 13 parks, but that it wants to make sure Nutter Fort is the best option.

"If we can improve one of our city parks and put the batting facility there, then so be it. But if Nutter Fort does turn out to be the best place, and it can fiscally happen for us and the other entities, then we're on board," said Trecost.

Overall, the project will cost an estimated $65,000.

City council has asked city manager Martin Howe to do more research on the project.
