Harrison County Commission Approves TIF Modifications

Posted: Updated:

Update

The Harrison County Commission approved amendments to the original tax increment revenue and refunding bonds Thursday, May 16. The commission explained the modifications as a "re-financing agreement with bond-holders."

The county said these modifications will not hold the county or taxpayers liable for any delinquent payments by the developer.

Original Story

The Harrison County Commission was expected to adopt a resolution and order Thursday modifying certain terms of the county's outstanding tax increment revenue and refunding bonds related to Charles Pointe in Bridgeport.

Instead, it pushed that decision back a week.

"I think there are some stipulations in the legislation on the tax TIF. And that's what we're talking about, utilizing the monies and proceeds that come from the tax TIF," said Ron Watson, of the Harrison County Commission.

One of the modifications would require the county commission to buy land at Charles Pointe with some of the TIF money.

A decision is expected next Thursday.
