Flemington Residents Concerned About Sewer and Water Rates

Posted: Updated:

The Flemington Town Council held a public hearing Thursday evening on sewer and water rates.

Council said a proposed ordinance will set sewer rates, water connection charges and delayed payment penalties and that it will sign the ordinance and send it to Public Service Commission.

Residents said the ordinance would raise rates, which will be hard on people on fixed incomes.

"The sewer ordinance is being forced upon us. Its not something that we welcome at all and they talk about, well they have to do this because of inflation, but they also have to realize, yes the inflation is going up, but our paychecks are not going up," said Stephen Johnson of Flemington.

Residents of Flemington have 30 days to contact the Public Service Commission to appeal council's decision.
