2 Local Students Named WVU Foundation Scholarship Winners

Posted: Updated:

West Virginia University has named five Foundation Scholarship winners, including two from our area.

They are Sundus Lateef from Bridgeport High School and Doddridge County High School's Dillon Muhly-Alexander.

The Foundation Scholarship, paired with the Promise Scholarship, is worth about $80,000 over four years.

"West Virginia produces some of the highest caliber students, very comparable to other states. Students should be very open minded when choosing a university and West Virginia is a great choice for academic rigor and extra curricular activities," Lateef said.

"This scholarship is the pinnacle of academic success in terms of coming into WVU. I can't even begin to describe how humble I feel about achieving this and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that's been associated with it," Muhly-Alexander said.

Lateef will study biology at WVU. Alexander will major in international studies and agribusiness management.

Both were also EQT Students of Excellence.
