BUCKHANNON -

Tourism officials in three counties are creating a campaign called "33 Things To Do Along U.S. Route 33."

The program highlights places to visit along Corridor H.

The new project joins together tourism groups from Lewis, Upshur, and Randolph County to let visitors know there's so much do along this highway.

The program would be funded through a state grant from the West Virginia Division of Tourism.

"The timing is finally right for all of us to focus on this project, 33 things to do along Route 33, and it's a new project we're all coming together with," said Laura Meadows, executive director Upshur County CVB.

Visitor bureaus from Lewis, Upshur and Randolph counties are working together to create multiple three-day trip packages to area destinations. These packages would cost $333 or less. Some ideas being considered are girls only weekends and an outdoor package.

"All the attractions that are going to be featured are within one hour driving distance from each other. It's a very affordable trip, it's a very easy trip for people. You spend a long weekend along Route 33, and get a lot accomplished and see a lot of attractions and areas too," Meadows said.

Meadows said this project is perfectly timed as progress on the completion of Corridor H continues.

"Once that roadway is completed. We do anticipate a lot more traffic coming through the area, and we want to be prepared for that, and have things already to go," Meadows said.

The CVBs should know if the project will get funded by that state grant in mid July.

If they don't get the grant, they're still moving ahead with the project.
