MORGANTOWN -

Mon General Hospital held a dedication ceremony on Tuesday.

The ceremony dedicated the Center for Cardiac Care in honor of Dr. Warren T. Anderson.

Dr. Anderson worked at Mon General as a cardiologist for 35 years and retired in 2012. While he was there, he helped to establish the open heart surgery program.

More than $500,000 was raised in Dr. Anderson's name by the Foundation of Mon General in support of the center.

Dr. Anderson said he couldn't believe it when the hospital told him it wanted to name the center after him.

"[CEO] Darryl Duncan asked me if I would that, and I had to say to him, 'Let me call you back.' The reason I had to say that, was because I was so shocked, I don't think I could have done it without tears in my eyes. It was very shocking, humbling, and an honor," said Anderson.

Dr. Anderson's friends, family, colleagues, and patients attended the ceremony to congratulate him on this honor.
