Volunteers said the problem began when Monongalia County condensed the committees overseeing the park into one.
A Wayne County man continued his effort to walk out hunger Wednesday.
Tom Knopp will walk through each county in West Virginia in an effort to raise money for the state's two food banks.
Knopp stopped in Gilmer County to speak at the Gilmer County Senior Center about the importance of eliminating hunger.
Knopp said hunger is a big problem for children and families but that many West Virginia seniors deal with hunger every day.
"There's no excuse that a senior citizen would have to do without in this day and time in the richest country in the world. There's no reason for that at all," said Knopp.
Knopp met with senior citizen walkers on the steps of the Gilmer County Courthouse to set off on the next leg of his trip towards Lewis County just after noon.
