Three people were rescued from the area known as "party rock" in Barbour County late Wednesday night.

According to Barbour County 911 officials, the three people called for help around 8 p.m.

The rock is a wide flat space usually accessible from shore, but it can become cut off when the Tygart River around it rises.

Fire departments from Philippi, Belington, and Junior assisted in the rescue, along with the Barbour County Sheriff's Dept. and the West Virginia State Police.

The three people were safely ashore by 9:30 p.m., and no one was injured.
