A Harrison County school is taking it's athletic fields to the next level.
Monday, Lincoln High School in Shinnston broke ground on its new football field. It will take around 3-weeks to install the Prograss Turf. The project will cost just over a half of a million dollars. Community donations and a couple of anonymous donors will pay for the project.
Head Football Coach Robert Herrod said the new field can only strengthen the already popular Cougar fan base.
"the program whether win lose or whatever has happened over the last 2 or 3 decades...people still come out they support the cougars and they have been very supportive of us as a staff and with the kids and you can see that by opening their pockets, pocket books a little bit and kind of investing in the future of the community," said Herrod.
The field is a multi-sport facility expected to hold over 100 events next school year.
