Elkins, Randolph County Commission Negotiate Future of National Guard Armory

Posted: Updated:

City and county officials are discussing ideas for future uses for the old Elkins National Guard Armory.

The city of Elkins and the Randolph County Commission are negotiating the purchase of the armory with the National Guard.

Both have decided to move forward with a letter of intent.

Commissioner Mike Taylor said the property can still benefit the county and residents.

"What we're looking at is the potential purchase of eight acres of real estate, and a 20,000 square foot building and the city and commission feel has great potential use for the citizens of Randolph County," Taylor said.

The National Guard will make an announcement on the sale of the old armory by the end of the summer.
