FAIRMONT -

The Boys and Girls Club of Marion County held its second annual 5K Saturday morning. It holds the event in conjunction with the Three Rivers Festival in Fairmont.

Local community and businesses donate to help cover the cost of the event.

All of the proceeds from the race go straight back into the club and help with its Go Running program.

"Kids ages seven and up to be able to run a 5k and ages seven and under to be able to run one mile and they have a choice," said Rachel Kellar, from the Boys and Girls Club. "We have members from the clubs at Blackshere Watson and East Park running in the race. We have runners to have never run we have season runners who are just coming in telling me that this course is kind of hard."

The Boys and Girls Club said it would not be able to have the 5K without the donations and help from community businesses.
