9th Annual WVU Blue and Gold Mine Sale Held in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN -

Going back home after a long year at college means packing up and moving out.

But that extra stuff that doesn't fit in the car or even in the house was put to good use at the WVU Blue and Gold Mine Sale, which is held each year.

It takes all of the unwanted or unused furniture, clothes and other items that students don't need anymore.  The sale raises money for the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties.

"A lot of stuff that's kept out of the waste, that's part of the reason why WVU partners with us," said Sarah Graham, the Volunteer Connection Manager for the United Way. "It's not just part of their WVU student United Way campaign but it also keeps a lot of waste out of the trash system.  We work specifically with WVU's recycling program, they help us coordinate this."

Nothing goes to waste. All linens and clothing that was not sold at the Blue and Gold Mine Sale was donated to the Clarksburg Mission.

The sale raised more than $15,000.
