The Clarksburg Police Department arrested Timothy Aaron Rife, 18, after a pursuit Saturday afternoon in Clarksburg.

The pursuit started after Rife was caught traveling in the wrong direction on Main Street in Clarksburg and speeding.

Rife was traveling in a stolen black Jeep and reached speeds up to 70 mph before crashing into a red Chevrolet Impala.

"It happened very quickly. Thank God my husband reacted in the right way at the right time. We were coming down the street, just coming down the street as he was coming around the corner I think on two wheels real fast with the police in pursuit. And my husband veered to the right as far as he could to avoid us getting head-on," said Fran Nutter, who was sitting in the passenger's seat of the car that was hit.

Rife then fled on foot, but was later arrested near the West Fork River.

Rife is in the North Central Regional Jail.  He faces charges for fleeing on foot, no operators, leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing with a vehicle, unlawful taking of a vehicle, and a traffic violation for traveling the wrong way on a one-way street.  All six charges are misdemeanors.  Bail is set at $14,000.
