West Virginia Museum of American Glass to Hold Auction

Posted: Updated:

The West Virginia Museum of American Glass is hosting an auction this week to show off local products.

The museum will auction off almost 200 glass items made in West Virginia.

The pieces come from collectors across the state and from museum patrons.

The event celebrates the long history of glassmaking in the state.

"West Virginia was one of the largest glass-making states in the United States. We had, at one time, over 400 factories in West Virginia. We now have five," said Sharon Pickens, of the West Virginia Museum of American Glass.

You can see the pieces to be auctioned at the museum, which will take bids over the phone until the auction begins on Friday. All proceeds from the auction will go to the museum.

Call 304-269-5006 for more information or to place a bid.
