A Louisiana woman is suing the companies that owned the Towne House West property in Harrison County after her grandson died as a result of injuries he received in a September 2012 fire at the motel.

Karen McClelland of Winnsboro, La. is suing Bruceton Farm Services Inc. and BFS Foods Inc., owners of the property, for violating federal, state, and local safety codes, according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit alleges that the companies didn't provide proper escape routes, properly trained staff, and that the companies lacked a master key that could open all of the doors at the location.

McClelland's grandson, Dustin McClelland, 21, from Winnsboro, La., was flown to the West Penn Burn Center with severe burns to his body. He was living in West Virginia while working in the Marcellus shale industry.

Karen McClelland is suing for compensation for hospital bills and expected loss of income.
