Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer,
Loop Pharmacy & Home Medical
Charleston, 33

Amanda Addington heeded the advice of a college professor.

The part about doing what you love so it never feels like work.

"There is no typical day in my world," Addington said. "I may be out in
the field or traveling to a conference, so there is never a boring day, but I've been doing this for 10 years and called on some of the same physicians through the years and developed some great relationships."

Addington, vice president and chief marketing officer at Loop Pharmacy & Home Medical, knew when she interviewed for the position of marketing director about 10 years ago that she would have to be a motivated self-starter.

Addington graduated from Marshall University and worked for about a year at Elite Home Health, learning that she enjoyed health care. She received her master's degree through West Virginia University's integrated marketing and communications online program in 2009.

At Loop Pharmacy & Home Medical she's seen new locations, product lines and services.

"My job is to market the overall company and the services we offer," Addington said. "A big portion of what I do is business development — meeting with physicians, working one on one with them to talk about some of the things we offer, how they can incorporate that in their services to help their patients."

Independent small businesses are in Addington's blood — her family has owned one for the past 30 years, and her husband, Frank, runs Addington Bowhunter Shop. They are parents to 6-year-old Gus and 10-month-old Lucas.

"My husband is a professional archer, so he travels all over the country doing archery exhibitions, and he travels on the weekends," she said. "It's a good partnership we have."

Addington has been chairman of the Foundation for Thomas & St. Francis Hospitals the past three years. Last year's gala raised $485,000, Addington said, and not only does she enjoy meeting people through the event, but she also enjoys seeing what's done with the money, such as children's bicycle helmet giveaways, growing the indigent patient fund and free flu shots.
