East Fairmont High School driver's education teacher Michael Waller, 29 of Fairmont, was arrested Wednesday by West Virginia State Police following allegations of improper relations with a student.

Waller is charged with four counts of sexual abuse by a person in position of trust to a child, said Sgt. Adam Scott, W.Va. State Police Crimes Against Children Unit. After an investigation was conducted by Sgt. Scott, it was revealed that Waller had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student.

The Marion County Board of Education also approved the resignation of Waller Monday following the allegations that Waller had an inappropriate relationship with a female student, according to Superintendent Gary Price.

Price said the central office and the East Fairmont High School administration conducted an investigation over several weeks.

After Waller was confronted, he resigned from his position, according to Price.

According to State Police, Waller also provided other juveniles with alcohol in May of 2013.

Waller was arraigned in Marion County Magistrate Court and is free on a $100,000 cash or surety bond.

Anyone with additional information in connection with this case should contact Sgt. Adam Scott with the State Police Crimes Against Children Unit at 304-367-2701.
