BUCKHANNON -

A log truck accident closed the on-ramp of Route 20 and Route 33 Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 9 a.m. when a tractor trailer carrying logs attempted to make a wide right turn onto the on-ramp of Route 20 and Route 33 westbound, according to Buckhannon Police.

The trailer then drove into some dirt, over corrected and overturned, spilling the load of logs, police said.

The driver of the tractor trailer, Chad Hawley of Elkins, was entrapped and had to be extricated from the truck. He was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon with minor injuries, according to police.

The scene is expected to be cleared around noon, according to the West Virginia Department of Transportation. Traffic is being detoured around the accident until crews get it cleared.

The Buckhannon Police Department is investigating.
