Judge Jamie Wilfong held a competency hearing Wednesday for a Randolph County man charged with first degree murder.
The authorities said Theodore Newlon murdered his wife Dora Newlon two years ago.
Judge Wilfong denied a defense motion that Newlon be found to be not competent to stand trial.
In fact, she ruled that Newlon might regain competency within the next three months and ordered a review by the Department of Health.
Judge Wilfong will hold a hearing to review those findings in September.
