Summer Practice Period Check-In: Liberty Boys Soccer

CLARKSBURG -

The Summer Practice Period Check-In brings us down the road to Liberty High School. The Mountaineer boys soccer team is trying to get back to its winning ways.

Without 2011 All-State duo Brandon Franklin and Austin Trent, last year was a bumpy ride. The Mountaineers tallied less than five wins on the season.

Head Coach Arthur Knight said an influx of new faces gives the program an opportunity to start fresh.

"We got a good group of freshman that played for us last year and got a lot of experience coming back as sophomores this year," Knight said. "We don't really have any seniors and one junior. So we're going to be young. We'll take some lumps probably along the way. But I've seen a lot of work out of these guys and that's all we ask them to do, which is work hard and come here every day to get better. They've been doing that so far."

"If we come together, then I really do think we can put a full season together. I'm not expecting all wins, or all losses. But I'm expecting, you know, a medium," Liberty junior midfielder Jared Freshour said.
