Struck Sunday Evening with wind gusts to 100 MPH.
There's one less hurdle for plans for a new motel in downtown Philippi.
The Philippi Planning Commission has approved a zoning change that was necessary to build the Battlefield Inn and Suites.
The hotel will go up at the corner of Church and Walnut Streets.
Some residents are concerned the building will stick out too much in that historic neighborhood, but the city said the developer is working to make sure it blends in.
"The structure that he proposes he's going to build so that it will fit in to that era of the town, and not be just a big neon sign there," said City Manager Karen Weaver.
Philippi city council also must approve the zoning changes before they can take effect.
