CLARKSBURG -

P.U.R.R. West Virginia held an adoption event on Sunday.

It hosts these events every third and fourth weekend of the month at Pet Supplies Plus.

This was the second adoption day, and there were almost 10 cats including three kittens available to adopt.

About 15 were adopted on Saturday.

P.U.R.R. West Virginia's executive director, Lorna Vincent Venter, said adoption events like these are essential.

"A lot of times people can't come to the shelter during our open hours. People do come to the pet supply stores to take care of their own animals, so we have to bring them out to the public, and we've found that it's a great way for the cats to find their forever homes," Venter said.
