Harrison County -

The West Virginia Department of Commerce hosted an art contest for the state's sesquicentennial this year.

Kids in grades kindergarten through 12th grade could submit artwork for the contest.

One finalist is from Harrison County.

Morgan Grose is a kindergarten student who drew a birthday cake for West Virginia.

"I drew the picture! This is the state bird it's called a Cardinal, this is what West Virginia looks like, and this is the state flower, a Rhododendron," Grose said.

Grose will receive her award on Monday at the Governor's Mansion. The drawing will be displayed in the rotunda at the state capital during the state's 150th birthday celebration.
