A Morgantown man is in jail after police said he tried to disarm an officer Tuesday morning.

According to a release from the Morgantown Police Department, Brandon Arnold, 33, tried to flee an officer after a traffic stop on Pennsylvania Avenue shortly before 1 a.m.

The officer caught up with Arnold, according to the release, and while the officer tried to handcuff Arnold, Arnold repeatedly tried to take the officer's gun.

Arnold did not succeed and another officer arrived to help handcuff Arnold.

He is now charged with obstructing an officer by attempting to intentionally disarm a law enforcement officer, which is a felony.
