BRIDGEPORT -

Stonewall Jackson made an appearance at United Hospital Center on Tuesday evening.

History Alive! brought in displays to celebrate West Virginia's sesquicentennial.

A Stonewall Jackson impersonator explained his role in West Virginia's statehood.

The hospital auxiliary arranged the presentation.

"It helps you understand why West Virginia became a state, and also if you agree if it should have became a state, you can vote at the end of the exhibit after you've read all of it. The impersonators are wonderful. They've studied the character that they do," said Ida Diem, the gift shop manager at UHC.

Artisans have been crafting their items outside of the Artisan's Crossing Gift Shop for the past few weeks.

UHC will have a West Virginia birthday cake on Thursday, and the first baby born at the hospital that day will receive a hand-made gift from the Artisan's Crossing Gift Shop.
