After a nationwide search, the Putnam County Development Authority Board of Directors chose a new executive director from its own backyard.

Andrew Dunlap was named the new executive director June 10. Dunlap will oversee day-to-day operations and work closely with the Board of Directors to accomplish the goals of the PCDA.

Dunlap most previously worked for the Charleston Area Alliance, where he was responsible for coordinating the organization's economic development programs, including the creation of target industry strategies for new business recruitment and the Alliance's local business expansion and retention and entrepreneurial development plans.

"I am honored that the PCDA has chosen me as its next executive director," Dunlap said. "Putnam County has so much to offer, and the PCDA has laid the groundwork for sustained success in attracting new investment and jobs to the county. I believe in the mission and goals of the organization and its members and will do all I can to continue building on their achievement."

The Putnam County Development Authority was established in 1961 by the Putnam County Commission. It serves as a resource to businesses and industries looking to expand or invest in the county. The 21-member board is appointed by the county commission.
