A Marshall County man has been indicted for threatening to harm the President.

An Elkins Grand Jury has charged Ryan Kirker, 20, of McMechen, with the felony offense of threats against the President, according to U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II.

In April of 2013, Kirker knowingly placed in the U.S. mail a letter threatening to take the life of or inflict bodily harm on the President of the U.S., according to the indictment.

Kirker faces up to five years in prison and a fine of $250,000 if convicted.

This case will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Perri and was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service.
