Randolph County Sheriff Mark Brady said that speed was definitely a factor involving a fatal head on collision Thursday near Mill Creek.

Brady said the passenger, a 15-year-old boy, has been identified as Timothy Hornick of Mill Creek. A 17-year-old passenger, has been identified as Eric Davis of Valley Bend. Davis was taken to Davis Memorial Hospital, and then onto Ruby Memorial Hospital.

A spokesperson with the hospital said that Davis is no longer listed as a patient.

The driver, 19 year-old Cole Edmond, is charged with DUI Causing Death. He is in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail with bail set at $50,000.

Original Story:

One teenager was killed and two other people were injured after a head-on collision just north of Mill Creek on Thursday, according to the Randolph County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff Mark Brady said a Chevy Cavalier driven by Cole Edmond, 19, was traveling south on Route 219 around 2:40 p.m. when he drove off the right hand side of the road. He overcorrected, crossed the center line, and struck a Dodge pickup truck head-on.

Brady said Edmond's car then went over an embankment and came to a stop at the edge of a nearby pond.

One of Edmond's passengers, a 15 year old, was ejected from the vehicle and was killed. His name has not been released, according to Brady.

A 17-year-old passenger was taken to Davis Memorial Hospital and later transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital. His name or condition is unknown at this time. The driver of the pickup truck was also taken to Davis, where he was treated for minor injuries, according to Brady.

Deputies arrested Edmond and charged him with DUI Causing Death. He is in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
