BUCKHANNON -

The Buckhannon Chamber of Commerce is promoting its downtown businesses in a special way.

The chamber is offering businesses banner signs that will hang on light poles along Main Street.

The signs will welcome visitors to Buckhannon and identify local businesses with their logos.

The chamber said it has 22 light poles available, and each would have a banner.

It has sold all but five of them so far.

"We're providing something for Main Street that looks nice and showing support for the businesses. They're getting their logo out there, and guests and residents both can see that business supported on Main Street and Buckhannon," said Tammy Reger, chamber's executive director.

Reger said the banners will go up sometime next week.

The chamber also is looking at creating patriotic banner signs for the Fourth of July.
