Natural Gas Fueling Station in Bridgeport Moves Closer to Launch Date

BRIDGEPORT -

The first natural gas station in West Virginia is nearing a grand opening.

Vital equipment for the station arrived on Tuesday at the Charles Pointe Exxon in Bridgeport.

IGS Energy CNG Services received a compressor and dryer that will store gas and prepare it for car use.

It said this a huge step for a new trend in energy consumption.

"With the infrastructure available in Bridgeport, front runners like Chesapeake Energy, EQT, Antero and the state Division of Highways, those entities can start fueling on day one when it becomes operational. Other businesses and consumers that are looking at CNG now don't have to factor the equation and say 'will the infrastructure be there or not?'" said T. J. Meadows, of IGS Energy CNG Services.

The company said nearly 250,000 cars in the United States use natural gas and it expects that number to grow.

The fueling station is expected to open in late August.
