MORGANTOWN -

The Ronald McDonald House in Morgantown has opened its new family room after two years of planning, design, and construction.

Located within steps of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, the family room offers families a home away from home right inside WVU's Children's Hospital.

The non-profit staffs the family room and offers an extension of its services for families that don't want to stray from the hospital.

"There are times where walking across the parking lot, something can change with your child, and not to sound morbid or sad, but those last few moments with your child can be saved, and you can see your children if your close by in the hospital," said RMHC Director Steve De Jesus.

The family room is stocked with a breast feeding room, a living room, and a kitchen among other amenities.
